Reem Acra and more designers show us what the stars would have worn on Sunday!
Bejeweled, empire-waisted and halter gowns intended for celebrities pack the fashion showrooms of designers like REEM ACRA, MONIQUE LHUILLIER and PAMELA ROLAND. But now that Sunday's Golden Globes' red carpet has been cancelled as a result of the writers' strike, designers and celebs are scrambling for a plan B.
"This is a perfect example of a gown that a celebrity could have been wearing this Sunday," says Reem of a beautiful, purple gown (seen above). Reem has previously dressed BEYONCE KNOWLES and ANGELINA JOLIE.
Monique Lhuillier envisioned a black, feather-topped gown for CATE BLANCHETT. Rich greens and purples, halter dresses and empire waists were also to be the gown trends at Sunday's Globes. Now they'll be decorating hangers until perhaps the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which has been granted a pass by the WGA for its Jan. 27 awards.
Still, some celebs are still finding ways to wear their dresses! With a few alterations, QUEEN LATIFAH wore the black lace, floor-length gown she was saving for the Globes to last night's premiere of 'Mad Money,' her new comedy with DIANE KEATON and KATIE HOLMES.
"We cut it down and we made it sexier, sheared it off and made it tighter!" she says.
