'Sweeney Todd' and 'Atonement' Top the 65th Annual Golden Globe Winners!

It was a Golden Globes ceremony unlike no other this year as the fashion, flash bulbs and pomp and circumstance were sidelined by the Writers Guild of America strike and the Screen Actors Guild's alliance with the writers.

But the show must go on, and this year's winners were announced in a press conference Sunday night by ET's own MARY HART and "The Insider"'s own LARA SPENCER!

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY and JAMES McAVOY's war period drama 'Atonement' was the surprise winner of the Best Motion Picture -- Drama award, besting tough competitors 'American Gangster,' 'Eastern Promises,' 'The Great Debaters,' 'Michael Clayton,' 'No Country For Old Men' and 'There Will Be Blood.'

Director TIM BURTON's 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' upset fellow flicks 'Hairspray,' 'Juno,' 'Charlie Wilson's War,' and 'Across the Universe' to win the coveted Best Motion Picture -- Musical/Comedy award. In the Best Animated Feature category, 'Ratatouille' squeaked past 'Bee Movie' and 'The Simpsons Movie' to win.

'Sweeney Todd' star JOHNNY DEPP out-sang such competitors as TOM HANKS, PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN, RYAN GOSLING and JOHN C. REILLY to win the Best Actor in a Motion Picture -- Musical/Comedy statuette, while DANIEL DAY-LEWIS' towering performance as a conflicted oil man in 'There Will Be Blood' earned him the Best Actor in a Motion Picture -- Drama award. He beat out GEORGE CLOONEY, James McAvoy, VIGGO MORTENSEN and DENZEL WASHINGTON.

Veteran actress JULIE CHRISTIE won the Best Actress in a Motion Picture -- Drama statuette for her performance in 'Away From Her.' She trumped JODIE FOSTER, ANGELINA JOLIE, CATE BLANCHETT and Keira Knightley. In the Musical/Comedy category, MARION COTILLARD sang her way to the top as EDITH PIAF in 'La Vie En Rose.'

Another star portraying a music legend, CATE BLANCHETT landed the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture award as BOB DYLAN in 'I'm Not There.' And JAVIER BARDEM's tour-de-force performance as a malevolent hit man in 'No Country For Old Men' earned him the Best Supporting Actor award. 'No Country' also claimed the Best Screenplay statuette.

In the television categories, AMC's Madison Avenue chronicle "Mad Men" beat out "Grey's Anatomy," "The Tudors," "House," "Big Love" and "Damages" to win Best Television Series -- Drama. The series' lead, JON HAMM, also was singled out as Best Actor in a TV Series -- Drama. "Extras," the RICKY GERVAIS on-set laffer, bested "30 Rock," "Californication," "Entourage" and "Pushing Daisies" for Best TV Comedy.

But "Californication" and "Entourage" stars DAVID DUCHOVNY and JEREMY PIVEN had the last laugh, as they were named Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. GLENN CLOSE can claim the Best Actress in a TV Series -- Drama statuette for her tough-as-nails litigator role in FX's "Damages," while TINA FEY's "30 Rock" persona can now boast a Best Actress -- Comedy nod. SAMANTHA MORTON's performance in 'Longford' earned her a Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series, Mini-Series or TV Movie category.
