'10,000 B.C.''s box office was anything but prehistoric as the period epic premiered in first place with a haul of $35.7 million, according to preliminary studio estimates.

The ROLAND EMMERICH film follows a mammoth hunter in the year 10,000 B.C. as he goes on a quest that could make or break his tribe. STEVEN STRAIT and CAMILLA BELLE star in the pic.

'College Road Trip,' debuted in second. The comedy about a young woman (RAVEN-SYMONE) traveling the country in search of a college features MARTIN LAWRENCE in a G-rated turn as an overprotective dad and co-stars "The Insider"'s very own temporary co-host, DONNY OSMOND.

Political thriller 'Vantage Point,' starring MATTHEW FOX, DENNIS QUAID, FOREST WHITAKER, WILLIAM HURT and SIGOURNEY WEAVER, slipped to third place with $7.5 million, while WILL FERRELL's basketball spoof 'Semi-Pro' dropped to fourth with $5.9 million.

Coming up just behind 'Semi-Pro' was 'The Bank Job,' which debuted with $5.7 million. JASON STATHAM and SAFFRON BURROWS star in the heist thriller.
