The attorney for BRITNEY SPEARS argued against paying the legal fees for her ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE in court today.

As it stands, the troubled pop star is responsible for paying K-Fed's legal fees, including $500,000 owed to his attorney.

The Associated Press reports that during the hearing, Britney's lawyer said he has the money to pay the fees himself. She also cited "excessive personal spending," referencing a $365 check at a restaurant to which he added a $2,000 tip.

According to People.com, the question of who will pay the legal fees "is under submission," according to court spokesman ALLAN PARACHINI. "When the judge will rule I don't know."
