Which castaway got sent home this week?
In an episode rife with the usual "Survivor" scheming and conniving, favorite JONATHAN was forced to leave the show early due to a serious infection, while fan CHET volunteered to be voted off, also because he said he wasn't feeling up to par.
In the first reward challenge, the Malakal and Airai tribes had to swim and carry planks and sticks from a floating platform to the beach. On the beach, they had to use the boards and planks to form a blockade inside a tunnel. Once their blockade was built, the other team had to try to go through their blockade.
While Malakal took the early lead, Airai won their third straight challenge since the team shake-up.
Before accepting their reward, which consisted of two local Micronesians showing them the lay of the land, Jonathan from Airai had to be checked out by the medical team, after sustaining an injury in the last episode.
To Jonathan's heartfelt disappointment, the medic informed him that if he didn't receive a surgical cleansing on the infected cut on his leg and intravenous antibiotics, he could sustain a life-threatening blood infection. A tearful Jonathan was bid adieu by the rest of his team, and taken away on a boat.
Airai's reward consisted of meeting EDWIN and JOE, two native Micronesians who brought a fishing net, fishing line, a machete, a paring knife, vegetables and fruit for the tribe members. The affable men then taught the teammates to fish and make bait, before everyone feasted on fish soup for dinner.
At the immunity challenge, tribe members had to balance on poles and be carried through the water to a platform. JAMES proved himself the MVP as he carried his team to victory. It was once again Malakal who had to send someone home.
When trying to decide who to send home, there was near mutiny, as AMI spoke surreptitiously about joining TRACY, Chet and ERIK's alliance. They talked about broadsiding OZZY at the Tribal Council, but then Chet volunteered to be voted off, citing a sore foot and other undisclosed "health problems."
Tracy and Erik tried to talk Chet into staying and voting off Ozzy, but in the end, Chet felt it was his own time to go, and he was voted off.
