ET has the latest...

REESE WITHERSPOON headed south to New Orleans to volunteer at a local school, according to Us Weekly. Her trip will be featured on the April 9 "Idol Gives Back" special airing on FOX.

The Oscar winner visited a Children's Defense Fund Freedom School where troubled kids learn about community leadership. Witherspoon, 32, is a longtime Children's Defense Fund member and in 2006 helped open the city's first Freedom School.
