"Ghost Whisperer" is back with haunting new episodes tonight as Melinda (JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT) has to help a friend of Ned's (CHRISTOPH SANDERS) -- and ET was first on the set to get the scoop from Jennifer on her engagement, which happened during the writers strike hiatus.

Jennifer shares that there is no actual date set for the wedding, because she and fiancé ROSS McCALL have to work around her "Ghost Whisperer" schedule, but she does reveal that it is going to be small and intimate.

As for how Ross proposed, Jennifer begs off divulging the details, saying, "It was very simple. It was very great. It is something that I want to keep for myself if possible. But I think the thing that was the best for me is that there were no nerves for either one of us. He was the calmest I have ever seen him and my answer was the easiest to give, so I think that is a good thing."

While Jennifer says she wasn't expecting the proposal, it was something that Ross had thought out, because he came prepared with a family heirloom ring.

"I actually have it tucked in here close to my heart," she says. "I pin it inside, so it is never far from me when we are working. It is a lot of pressure because it is 100 years old. It is not something you leave lying in the trailer."

As for tonight's episode, for the first time, Ned falls for a girl in a big way, but being this is Grandview, she isn't the normal girl-next-door. Rather, she has a ghost attached to her that has actually caused him physical injury.

"He comes to Melinda and says, 'We've got to deal with this,'" Jennifer explains. "Melinda goes through two different things in the episode. The first is she has to do her job and she has to try to help this young girl with what turns out to be a difficult and heart-breaking scenario in her life. She also has to be respectful of Ned's pact with his mom, which is to not get involved with Melinda's ghost activity. So she kind of lies to Delia (CAMRYN MANHEIM) a little bit, but it all sort of works out in 'Ghost Whisperer' fashion in the end."
