Less than a week after "American Idol" hopeful DAVID COOK was hospitalized for heart palpitations, People magazine confirms that his older brother ADAM is battling cancer.

A source tells the magazine that Cook hasn't spoken about it out of respect for his brother and he also didn't want the news to garner any sympathy votes.
