ET has your "Idol" scoop!

The "American Idol" stage was veritably overflowing with star power Wednesday night as the A-List came out to support "Idol Gives Back."

BRAD PITT, REESE WITHERSPOON, ROBIN WILLIAMS, DAVID and VICTORIA BECKHAM, and ELLEN DeGENERES were just a few of the big names who appeared on the program.

Several celebs traveled the country and the world before taking the "Idol Gives Back" stage to report on what they saw. Pitt appeared in a segment filmed in New Orleans about providing homes for families displaced by Hurricane Katrina, while Witherspoon also traveled to the Big Easy to meet with families affected by poverty. BONO and ANNIE LENNOX (who also performed) appeared in segments based on their visits to families affected by HIV and poverty in Africa, while RANDY JACKSON and PAULA ABDUL visited a poverty-stricken California town and SIMON COWELL spent time with needy New York medical patients. FOREST WHITAKER and his wife KEISHA went to Angola, Africa, to report on the effects of malaria, while ALICIA KEYS also took in the beauty of Africa and visited AIDS orphans -- her full report was available for free on "Idol Gives Back"'s Web site. MILEY and dad BILLY RAY CYRUS went to the Appalachians in Kentucky to discuss educational programs with people there, while previous "Idol" finalist CHRIS DAUGHTRY appeared in a music video about his band's trip to Africa to visit underprivileged people.

Several comedians participated: BEN STILLER exhorted the audience to raise a "gugillion" dollars, and then referred to himself as "crazy," joking, "Isn't that what 'American Idol' is all about? Convincing crazy people that they belong on television?" ADAM SANDLER took a lighthearted approach with his dog by his side, saying, "Give some money, help people out, it'll feel good." ROBIN WILLIAMS jokingly played the part of the winner of "Russian Idol," saying, "My father won 'Anti-American Idol' in 1978." ROB SCHNEIDER jested, "You would think that Bono has enough money to fix what's going on in Africa but that wouldn't be true -- he only has half."

Meanwhile, joker JIMMY KIMMEL teased a red-faced Cowell in his roast-like introduction, saying, "All the good feelings 'Mary Poppins' brought here he has undone." He also mocked Simon's clothes and hair, going on to say, "I think I speak for everyone in America when I say, 'Let's see you sing something Simon.'" Simon took the stage and made his own dig at Jimmy, telling him he loved "The Tonight Show with JAY LENO."

Kimmel's girlfriend SARAH SILVERMAN spoke after GLORIA ESTEFAN brought down the house with her classic, "Get on Your Feet," and in an imitation of the judges' comments on the show, called Estefan's performance "a little pitchy in places" but said that she "pulled it out in the end."

Other celebs who participated included WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CELINE DION, GEORGE LOPEZ, KYLIE MINOGUE, MARIA SHRIVER, KOBE BRYANT, WWE stars JOHN CENA and TRIPLE H, football-star brothers PEYTON and ELI MANNING, NASCAR driver JIMMIE JOHNSON, JULIANNE MOORE, British Prime Minister GORDON BROWN, KEITH URBAN, DANE COOK, "High School Musical"'s VANESSA HUDGENS and ASHLEY TISDALE, MARIA SHRIVER, TYRA BANKS and DAVID SPADE.

Musical performers included this year's crop of "American Idols" and MARIAH CAREY, SNOOP DOGG, CHARLIE WILSON, TERI HATCHER and the BAND FROM TV (HUGH LAURIE, JAMES DENTON and GREG GRUNBERG), FERGIE, JOHN LEGEND, CARRIE UNDERWOOD and Gloria Estefan.

Last season, "Idol" raised over $76 million and received a special Governor's Award Emmy. All proceeds go to various U.S. and international charities, including the Children's Defense Fund, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Make It Right,  Malaria No More, Save The Children, and the Children's Health Fund.
