The "American Idol" fundraiser is a smashing success, and Mariah Carey will be next week's mentor.
Thursday night, "American Idol" host RYAN SEACREST announced that the tally of monies raised by "Idol Gives Back" had reached $60 million with more funds expected for the six charities, which include Children's Defense Fund, The Children's Health Fund, The Global Fund, Make It Right, Malaria No More and Save the Children's U.S. Programs.
It's not too late to donate by phoning 1-877-IDOL-AID (1-877-436-5243) or by logging on to www.americanidol.com. An updated total will be released on next week's "American Idol."
In other "Idol" news, next week's mentor for the Final 7 will be MARIAH CAREY, who will also perform on Wednesday night's results show, when one more hopeful will be sent home.
