The country crooner takes her farewell bow.
One night after the Final 7 crooned MARIAH CAREY tunes, viewers were all out of "Honey" for KRISTY LEE COOK on Wednesday night's results show.
"Can I go ride my horse now?" the booted blonde asked, dabbing tears from her eyes after being eliminated. Her waterworks might have also had something to do with a certain blunt comment slung at her by SIMON COWELL just moments earlier.
"Your time's up this week, sweetie," Simon told Kristy -- a grim prophecy that nearly could have been applied to BROOKE WHITE, who also found herself standing atop the trap door after SYESHA MERCADO -- their bottom three bunkmate -- was sent to safety.
Kristy's elimination came on the heels of a tense guessing game as to which
three would sport bull's-eyes for the night. Over the course of the show, host
RYAN SEACREST divided the seven finalists into two groups:
Kristy, Syesha and Brooke ended up huddled on the left side of the stage; while JASON CASTRO,
CARLY SMITHSON and DAVID COOK took the
right.
Asked to join the group that he considered safe, DAVID ARCHULETA plopped down in protest, unwilling to choose a side! Seacrest ended up pointing him in the right direction.
Before the show's teary end, Mariah Carey graced the "Idol" stage with a soulful performance of "Bye Bye" off her new album, E=MC2. Mariah told the finalists, "Say a little prayer," and added in sing-song: "Everything's gonna be all right." Season five finalist ELLIOTT YAMIN also returned to croon his song "Free."
