Is GARY COLEMAN's marriage on the rocks? And are his anger issues to blame?
The 40-year-old, former "Diff'rent Strokes" star married his 22-year-old bride SHANNON PRICE seven months ago, but now the pair have turned up on "Divorce Court" -- airing May 1 in syndication -- and only ET was there!
"If he doesn't get his way, he throws a temper tantrum like a five-year-old does," says Shannon.
How bad does it get? "As bad as it needs to be to get her to listen," Gary tells our own JANN CARL. "If I have to throw something or break something, that's what's going to happen."
Gary's anger has gotten him in trouble before. In the '90s he pleaded no contest to assault and battery charges after allegedly shoving a woman who had asked for an autograph. He received a suspended sentence, was placed on probation and ordered to undergo anger management classes.
"I don't want to have a temper all my life," says Gary, "because if I keep having a temper all my life, I'm gonna have a heart attack; I'm gonna kill myself."
Gary and Shannon agreed to appear on "Divorce Court" in the hopes that JUDGE LYNN TOLER could help them solve the issues tearing them apart. When asked if he loves his wife, Gary tells Jann, "I love her to death and that will never change." And Shannon replies, "Of course. I wouldn't be here if I didn't."
Can this tempestuous couple be saved? The judge has asked them to return to her courtroom in six months to check on their progress, and Gary tells Jann, "If she has anything to say about it, yeah, we're gonna be back."
