The highly anticipated Daytime Emmy nominations were announced today on "The View," with "The DR. PHIL Show," "The TYRA BANKS Show" and "A Place of Our Own," earning nominations for Outstanding Talk Show Informative. Meanwhile, "The RACHAEL RAY Show," "The View" and "The ELLEN DEGENERES Show" won nominations for Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment.
Outstanding Talk Show Host honors went to Ellen DeGeneres, REGIS PHILBIN and KELLY RIPA, and "The View" co-hosts BARBARA WALTERS, WHOOPI GOLDBERG, JOY BEHAR, SHERRI SHEPHERD and ELISABETH HASSELBECK.
In the soap opera world, CBS led the pack with a total of 51 Emmy noms for its four daytime dramas, sweeping the Outstanding Lead Actress category and garnering four out of five nominations in four categories: Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress and Outstanding Younger Actress and Actor categories.
"Days of our Lives" received four nominations this year, a break through for the NBC show, which has been shut out of the acting competitions in the past.
The nominees for Outstanding Drama include "General Hospital," "Guiding Light," "One Life to Live" and "The Young and the Restless."
In the Outstanding Lead Actor category, the battle is on between DAVID CANARY -- "All My Children"; THAAO PENGHLIS -- "Days of our Lives"; TONY GEARY -- "General Hospital"; PETER BERGMAN -- "The Young and the Restless"; and CHRISTIAN LE BLANC -- "The Young and the Restless."
The breakdown of Outstanding Lead Actress candidates include MAURA WEST -- "As the World Turns"; CRYSTAL CHAPPELL -- "Guiding Light"; NICOLE FORESTER -- "Guiding Light"; MICHELLE STAFFORD -- "The Young and the Restless"; JEANNE COOPER -- "The Young and the Restless."
The 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards air live to the East Coast on ABC on Friday, June 20 at 8 p.m. and will be tape delayed to the West Coast.
