OscarĀ® winner JAVIER BARDEM has backed out of the lead role of 'Nine,' the new musical from 'Chicago' director ROB MARSHALL, due to exhaustion, Variety reports.
The 'No Country for Old Men' actor's camp says he loved the script and the idea of working with the acclaimed director, but has decided to take up to a year off to recoup from work and the seemingly never-ending awards season.
The film, inspired by FEDERICO FELLINI's '8 1/2' also stars Bardem's real-life girlfriend PENELOPE CRUZ and his fellow Oscar winner MARION COTILLARD.
