ET has your box office scoop!
'Iron Man' continued to blow away the competition this weekend, as ROBERT DOWNEY JR.'s superhero flick picked up another $50.5 million at the box office, bringing its total domestic receipts to $177.1 million, and the international total to a whopping $276.1 million, according to preliminary studio estimates.
In the movie directed by JON FAVREAU ('Elf,' 'Zathura'), ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. plays Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor whose captivity by insurgents motivates him to build a suit of armor to escape. Once free, he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications and fine-tunes the high-tech suit to protect the world as Iron Man! GWYNETH PALTROW, TERRENCE HOWARD and JEFF BRIDGES co-star.
Debuting in second with $20.2 million was 'Speed Racer.' The big-screen adaptation of the '60s anime classic from the WACHOWSKI BROTHERS finds EMILE HIRSCH in the titular role and also stars MATTHEW FOX, JOHN GOODMAN and SUSAN SARANDON.
'What Happens in Vegas' premiered in a close third with $20 million. In the film, CAMERON DIAZ and ASHTON KUTCHER play two down-on-their-luck strangers who hook up in Vegas and wake up the next day to find they got married! When Ashton wins big playing slots with Cameron's quarter, the two find themselves connected by cash -- and scheming to get one another's money. Things complicate even further when they are sentenced to "six months hard marriage" by a judge (DENNIS MILLER).
PATRICK DEMPSEY and MICHELLE MONAGHAN's romantic comedy, 'Made of Honor,' dropped to fourth with $7.6 million, while TINA FEY and AMY POEHLER's 'Baby Mama' dropped to fifth with $5.8 million.
