Cristian is expected to recover fully.

Former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant CRISTIAN DE LA FUENTE, who tore a muscle in his bicep during a routine on the show, underwent successful surgery Friday to repair the injury.

De la Fuente's doctor told ET: "Surgery went very nicely. I was able to get a perfect repair of the bicep. Cristian will spend about a week in a splint then start rehab. In approximately 3 months he will have a full recovery and full strength back."

"I am at home recovering from my surgery," de la Fuente, who came in third along with partner CHERYL BURKE (pictured above) in the recently-ended celeb dancing competition, said in a statement, continuing, "Thank you to everyone for their concern and well wishes. I have hung up my dancing shoes and I will now spend time with my family and promoting my new USA Network series, 'In Plain Sight,' which premieres on June 1 and, of course, rehab."
