Second highest Memorial Day opening!
'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' took in an estimated $311 million worldwide during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, according to studio projections. This included $151.1 million from the United States and Canada and $160
million from launches across the globe, Paramount Pictures said.
The debut was the second biggest Memorial Day opening in history, behind 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End,' which took in $153 million domestically during the same holiday period last year.
The highly anticipated fourth film in the 'Indiana Jones' series finds the return of box office giant HARRISON FORD as the intrepid archaeologist, this time battling nefarious Russians (led by a black-haired CATE BLANCHETT) in a globetrotting adventure that once again may put the entire world at stake. SHIA LaBEOUF and 'Raiders of the Lost Ark''s KAREN ALLEN co-star in the STEVEN SPIELBERG-directed and GEORGE LUCAS-produced blockbuster.
