Is there a new Clinton controversy brewing? In the upcoming edition of Vanity Fair, on stands this week, TODD S. PURDUM, the husband of BILL CLINTON's former press secretary, DEE DEE MYERS (who was not a source for the article), makes claims about a number of headline-making details, including  how the former president's aides are concerned with the Hollywood gossip that he has been seen visiting with 'Showgirls' actress GINA GERSHON.

Bill Clinton isn't staying quiet on the report; his representatives released the following statement to ET: "Vanity Fair also goes out of the way to impugn the reputations of people who contribute to charitable causes that the Clinton Foundation supports and who support those less fortunate than themselves.

"Specifically, the article references RON BURKLE, STEVE BING, FRANK GIUSTRA and VICTOR PINCHUK who are well known and recognized for their support of underserved communities. The President is proud of their work. Millions of people have been helped by their charity work and generosity, and Vanity Fair owes them an apology."

Meanwhile, Gershon's rep tells ET, "Todd Purdum's insinuation is a lie and it is irresponsible journalism. We are demanding a retraction."
