Did her silver dress get around a little too much?
'Sex and the City' star SARAH JESSICA PARKER is reportedly peeved over a silver NINA RICCI gown she wore to last week's N.Y. premiere of the film. The fashion icon tells the New York Times she was mortified to learn after the press-packed event that the gown had been worn just a month before by a socialite to the highly photographed Met Costume Ball, and also by starlet LINDSAY LOHAN for a Harper's Bazaar photo shoot.
"Look, my affection for the dress hasn't changed," she tells the paper, "but what they did was so short-sighted. It's just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again."
In Hollywood circles, where starlets are photographed daily and their outfits dissected by critics and tabloids, wearing the same frock as someone else is considered a fashion faux pas. Parker tells the NY Times she asked the designer specifically if anyone had worn it previously.
"He didn't say, 'Well, actually I just escorted Lauren down the red carpet at the Met,'" she said, adding, "I just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it."
MARIO GRAUSO, whose company owns the Ricci label, said he too was "upset" that Parker was "upset," but argues that socialite LAUREN SANTO DOMINGO is a private citizen, not a member of the glitterati. "Is Lauren a celebrity?" Grauso said. "It depends on how you look at it."
