In case you haven't heard (because he's shouting it from the rooftops), MIKE MYERS is back in a big way with his all-new comedy 'The Love Guru,' in theaters everywhere June 20, and our own JANN CARL is getting the good karma!
"I stay in character all day, which is hard when friends come to visit," reveals Mike about his comedy process. "I know no other way."
In 'The Love Guru,' Mike plays Pitka, an American raised by gurus in India who returns to the states seeking fame and fortune in the self-help world. Specializing in intimacy issues, Pitka's unorthodox methods are put to the test when he must return a star hockey player and his estranged wife to marital nirvana so that his team can break a 40-year-old curse and win the championship.
"I've been waiting for the Toronto Maple Leafs to win a Stanley Cup since 1967," says Mike, "and I figured if I wanted to see the Toronto Maple Leafs win in my lifetime, I'd better write it."
But does Mike think his unique brand of comedy sometimes goes over the top?
"I think everything is silly and toothless; nothing is ever explicit," replies Mike. "I like very, very silly, suggestive comedy. I like it where you would have to do some form of infantile math to get the joke, and it's not laid out for you."
The film also stars new mom JESSICA ALBA, ROMANY MALCO of 'Blades of Glory' and reunites Mike with former co-stars JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE ('Shrek the Third') and VERNE TROYER (Mini-Me from the 'Austin Powers' sequels).
