Our "ET/Insider" correspondent and fashion stylist enjoy an exclusive lunch at the diamond boutique.

Turns out songwriting legend Jule Styne was right. Diamonds are a girl's best friend.
This afternoon, "ET" and "The Insider"'s very own head fashion stylist, Anya Sarre, beckoned me to the fabulous Van Cleef & Arpels store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills for an ultra private meet-and-greet luncheon with the most beautiful jewels on earth.
Truth is, she didn't have to twist my arm too hard, as I have been a big fan of the line for years. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that feels more glamorous than adorning oneself in these sparkling wonders. It's bling times a million. No small wonder that Kate Beckinsale, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon and Mariah Carey choose these breathtaking baubles when they step out on the red carpet.
It was 102 years ago on June 16, when the first Van Cleef & Arpels boutique opened in Paris. Since then, the world's jet set has passed through its pearly gates. Think Marlene Dietrich, Maurice Chevalier and Eva Peron. Grace Kelly wore a Van Cleef & Arpels tiara when she became the princess of Monaco in 1956. The craftsmanship and artistry has not changed, although the styles have adapted to the moods of the decades.
The company also has the highest ethical standards when choosing its precious gems with a policy against using "conflict" or "blood" diamonds. To literally walk us through the current collection, the coordinateur du departement creation -- Patrice Leguereau -- flew in from Paris especially for this event. He told me that he has so enjoyed his position at VCA for the last 10 years as the head designer (Can you imagine? What artistry!).
Patrice also said that his favorite collection is "always the one that he looks forward to doing in the future." Anya and I were lucky enough to be sitting at the table of Lily Vongwattanakit -- the gem director for VCA for the last 33 years (another divine task, my friends!). Lily passed several gorgeous gem stones and creations around the beautifully decorated tables -- one being a pear-shaped, natural Fancy vivid -- internally flawless blue diamond called the "conversation ring" and another being a 17-carat emerald ring that was once a button belonging to a maharajah. Can you imagine? My heart dropped holding this magnificent creation, and to think that this once adorned the maharaja's coat!
All of the gems were simply fabulous and delectable to the eyes. I enjoyed watching Anya in rare form, styling the women right there at the table, assisting the ladies in their jewel selections. It was literally watching our own stylist at her best. Anya has impeccable taste -- especially when it comes to diamonds. As I stepped out of the store, I found myself humming. "Men grow cold, as girls grow old, And we all lose our charms in the end, But square-cut or pear-shaped, These rocks don't lose their shape, For diamonds are a girl's best friend." Indeed.
