Jason Bateman gets a second lease on life when he's saved from certain death by Will Smith's reluctant superhero 'Hancock,' in theaters everywhere July 2, and the former "Arrested Development" star lets the laughter fly when our own Kevin Frazier tells him that co-star Charlize Theron thinks he's the funniest human being on the planet!
"The reason she thinks I'm funny is because she's been doing mostly drama," jokes Jason. "She hasn't been involved with a lot of the comedy geniuses that are around in funny films nowadays; I aspire to those people, but she'll see how adequate I am."
Jason plays a PR exec married to Charlize who decides to rework Hancock's tarnished image after the reckless hero pushes his stalled car out of the way of a speeding locomotive.
"[If] somebody saves your life, it's nice to do something back for them," says Jason. "Buying a cup of coffee is a nice gesture, or a sweater, or something like that; I offer to help this guy's image, so I go above and beyond, because he's got a lot to fix there: He doesn't smell good, he doesn't look good…"
But in real life, Jason assures Kevin that he's not qualified to redeem anybody.
"Who am I to help people out? I mean, I'm still trying to figure it out myself," he jests. "No one needs to hear any advice from me. I will toss in my two cents if they're asking, but no, I'm not skilled in those areas; that's outside my intellect set -- I'm not a doctor and don't claim to be."
The proud father to an almost-two-year-old girl named Francesca, the coversation naturally turns to diaper duty, and Jason marvels over the little presents his princess provides!
"I don't know where they get the color of the [poop] on these kids, because I monitor everything she eats and I've never fed her anything purple," he says. "But I guess it's kind of kiddie art."
