NBC to air debut show hosted by late comedian.
"Saturday Night Live" will pay tribute to George Carlin this Saturday night by airing the premiere episode of the show that he hosted back in 1975, USA Today reports.
Carlin, who died Sunday at age 71, appears on the debut episode along with Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin and Gilda Radner. The show also includes a performance by comedian Andy Kaufman.
Lorne Michaels, creator of NBC's groundbreaking comedy show, said the late comedian made his impact from the start. "You never forget the people who were there at the beginning. George Carlin helped to give "Saturday Night Live" its start as our first host. He was gracious, fearless and most important of all, funny."
