Eddie Murphy plays a mini spaceship captain in a vessel that looks exactly like Eddie Murphy in 'Meet Dave' -- and ET's Thea Andrews gets the goods from the funnyman himself!
"Coming from 'Saturday Night Live' and doing stand-up, I've always done multiple characters," he tells Thea. "I've always mixed it up at the movies; it's kind of what I do."
"I really like it when you don't know who it is," he beams. "Like if I do something and you watch the movie, and afterwards you're like, 'Hey, you know that old lady was him' -- and they're like, 'What?!!!'"
In 'Meet Dave,' landing in theaters July 11, Eddie sports a snazzy white suit as he awkwardly makes his way among the earthlings of New York City -- but the fashionable star says there was no way he'd keep that particular piece of wardrobe.
"It's like the 'Fantasy Island' suit -- it looks good, it's tailored right, but if you look at it, it's like a '70s kind of suit."
Eddie says the new movie, also starring Gabrielle Union and Elizabeth Banks, is very "sweet and funny" and kid-friendly.
And if his own family could "get inside his head," the Oscar-nominated star says, "I don't know what they would see that they don't know about; I'm an open book to my kids."
