ET has confirmed that Christie Brinkley has reached a settlement in her divorce case with Peter Cook and she will be granted sole custody of the couple's two children.
The former supermodel was all smiles as she arrived at the Long Island, NY courthouse this morning to discuss the divorce settlement. "I'm very pleased with the results today," she said at a press conference. "I've won custody and decision making."
A statement by Christie's attorney, Robert Cohen, indicates the settlement obligates Christie, 54, to give Peter 2.1 million dollars, but allows her to "individually own all of her real estate properties." Christie said it was a long night and when asked if she had slept, replied, "Not a wink."
Cook, who was awarded "parenting time," said at the press conference he was "relieved" and "very pleased" with the settlement. He provided no details on his newly-awarded custody rights, but said the children were doing well and he looks forward to seeing them "when they come home from camp."
Cook, 49, admitted on the stand that he had an affair with Diana Bianchi, who was 18 years old at the time. Her attorney, Rosemaire Arnold, issued a statement to ET expressing relief that the proceedings were
finished. "The settlement should put an end to this chapter in all of
their lives and Diana is looking forward to moving on and putting this
all behind her. This has been a media frenzy and put her in the
spotlight and she is looking forward to regaining her private life again."
Another one of Bianchi's attorneys said: "She is moving on with her life, seeks her privacy and has refused numerous requests to be paid to tell her story."
Peter Cook and Christie Brinkley had 10-year-old Sailor together. The former Sports Illustrated cover girl had Jack, 13, with Richard Taubman but Jack was later adopted by Cook. Christie also has a 22-year-old daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, with musician Billy Joel.
