Jessica Simpson talks about abuse in an all-new interview with Elle magazine in which the pop star and actress is more candid than ever.

When asked by an Elle writer if she's been physically abused, Simpson replied, "I don't want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run."

Simpson  tells the magazine that all of the songs on her forthcoming country album (on which she worked with Dolly Parton) are written from personal experience -- Elle reports that one song, "Remember That," features the lyrics, "It doesn't matter how he hurts you, With his hands or with his words, You don't deserve it, It ain't worth it, Take your heart and run."

For  more on Jessica's heart-to-heart with Elle, check out the September 2008 issue, which hits newsstands on August 11.
