The "Desperate Housewives" star and her daughter traveled to Kenya to support AmericaShare.
"Desperate Housewives" is back to work -- and so is Teri Hatcher, who returns to her role as Susan, but five years down the road, as the new season of the hit series has been fast-forwarded by executive producer Marc Cherry in order to open up new storylines.
As busy as that keeps her, Teri still finds time for nonprofit work. As ET earlier reported, Teri has joined the Band from TV, which raises money for a variety of charities, as a vocalist.
But that isn't her only commitment. This summer Teri and her 10-year-old daughter Emerson traveled to Kenya with money and supplies -- and in the hope of bringing awareness to AmericaShare, so others will donate to the worthy cause.
"It was hugely emotional. None of my friends believed anybody lives like that," Teri tells ET. "There is a company called Micato Safaris that has a charitable safari called AmericaShare. They raise money for orphans and women [who have been affected by HIV/AIDS] in the slums of Nairobi to help get them housed, educated, fed and clothed to help them move on to a more hopeful destiny in their lives."
Teri wasn't the only one affected by the visit. Emerson told her mother, "It was life changing, mommy."
