ET confirms Morgan Freeman has been released from the Memphis hospital where he was airlifted Sunday night following a serious car accident in Mississippi.

"I left the hospital today just after 12 noon, Memphis time," Freeman tells ET exclusively. "I'm doing very well. I feel real good. I just really, I thank the staff at Elvis Presley [medical facility] and many, many thanks to my many well-wishers. It's great to know people care about you."

'The Dark Knight' actor underwent surgery on Monday to reconnect nerves and to repair damage to his left arm and hand.
