"Wizards of Waverly Place" star Selena Gomez's life resembles a fairy tale: a small-town girl moves to Hollywood and makes it big.
"People probably didn't think I would get far because of where I'm from," Selena tells Teen, in the issue of the magazine on newsstands September 2. "Being able to do what I've always wanted to do my entire life is a gift, and my whole dream has come true. To see where I am, from where I was, is just crazy."
The dream of becoming an actress also came true for Selena's friend Demi Lovato, who was one of the stars of the Disney Channel movie, "Camp Rock," also starring the Jonas Brothers.
Now, the two teen stars get to work together in the movie "Princess Protection Program," in which one of the girls actually gets to play a princess.
"Almost every scene we did, Selena would say, 'Oh my gosh, we're shooting a movie right now!' And then it just hit us! We met each other the day we started working on [our careers], so it's pretty ironic how things turn out," Demi says.
But life isn't completely a fairytale for the two teen stars. One of the down sides of their new-found fame is the rumors, including the one that Miley Cyrus is their enemy.
"You can't believe every rumor," Demi tells the magazine. "Everyone on the Disney Channel is really uplifting. People try to pit me against Miley, but she sent me a four-page text saying how she knows it's overwhelming right now and she wants to help."
