Prolific filmmaker Tyler Perry is back with the all-new contemporary drama 'The Family That Preys,' and ET goes one-on-one with him to get his take on the new movie, Oprah and Gayle -- and who should be Barack Obama's running mate!
In theaters September 12, 'The Family That Preys' is about two very different families torn apart by greed and scandal. Tyler stars alongside a stellar cast that includes Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard, Robin Givens, Cole Hauser and Sanaa Lathan.
Bates and Woodard play the matriarch's of the families whose long-lasting friendship is put into turmoil when their adult children's extramarital affairs, unethical business practices and a dark paternity secret threaten to derail family fortunes and unravel the lives of all involved. As the tension grows, Charlotte and Alice decide to go on a road trip -- "like Oprah and Gayle" -- to get away from it all and reconnect.
"Gayle and Oprah always inspire me; the two of them are so funny -- and funnier together," says Tyler. "If that talk show thing doesn't work out, I think the two of them should go on the road and do a stand-up tour. They are hilarious."
The Democratic National Convention is next week, and with Tyler being a staunch supporter of Barack Obama, he has the perfect choice for his running mate: "Madea is the running mate -- Obama and Madea, that's it," he jokes, referring to his beloved onscreen alter ego. "She's the running mate. She's heading up foreign affairs and I think she'll be Chief of Staff so we'll see!"
