Expect a lot of OMG moments when the much-anticipated second season premiere of "Gossip Girl" airs on Monday, Sept. 1 -- and ET was first on the set to bring you all the explosive action!
"They'd pack a scandal in every scene if they could," Penn Badgley, who plays Dan, tells ET. "We're a scandalous show -- in the best way possible."
When we left off: Serena (Blake Lively) broke up with Dan; Chuck (Ed Westwick) stood up Blair (Leighton Meester) at the helioport because he was afraid he loved her too much; and Nate (Chace Crawford) is having to deal with the fact that his father is on the lam from the law.
Now, the gang is getting ready to head back to school, but they take part in one last end-of-summer party in The Hamptons before they do -- and it gets hot and steamy!
"These kids live in an alien world, super privileged," says Penn. "As far as [the way] the kids are acting, teenagers are teenagers. Being a teen is universal. That's why the appeal [of the show] is so universal. As cool as they may feel, they're still 16, 17."
Penn, who is actually 21, sometimes feels like 16 or 17 when he has to play love scenes with Blake. He says, "Everyone likes to think that it's hot and romantic. It's not, because you have guys standing around with mikes."
Leighton, who has had to do love scenes with both Ed and Chace, agrees it can be awkward, saying, "When we're doing love scenes, it never gets easy, but it gets funnier, because you're doing it on the show with people who are your best friends."
Check into the XOXO world of "Gossip Girl" on tonight's ET. Then catch the second season premiere on Monday.
