Matt Damon, whose wife Luciana Barroso just had a baby girl on August 20th, says that having his own children has made all the difference in his life.
"I think something changes in you when you have kids of your own. It is hard not to see your kid's face in the face of every other kid," Matt told ET Monday night before attending the ONEXONE gala and benefit concert in Toronto, Canada.
Matt showed up on the red carpet with his mom Nancy Carlsson-Paige, who has also accompanied him in the past to the Oscars. His wife Luciana had to sit this one out to stay home with the couple's newborn daughter, Gia Zavala.
Matt jokes with ET, "[Luciana] took over [baby duty] for like a day so I could come here."
Even though Matt was teasing, Nancy tells us that he really is very much a hands-on dad and does "everything." For her part, Nancy says becoming a grandmother has been very exciting.
"I didn't know my grandparents, so I am experiencing grandparenting for the first time as a grandparent," Nancy tells ET. "It is so wonderful."
Matt and his mom made the trip to Toronto on behalf of ONEXONE, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping create a world where children can live safely and with dignity. Matt is the foundation's ambassador.
Matt takes his duties as ambassador seriously, and personally picked up the phone to book the music acts for the event himself.
"Everybody I called, if they can't do it this year, they committed to next year," he said. "I don't have to sell anything. From Madonna to Eddie Vedder to Sheryl Crow, they want to help."
