Whether it was as the voice of Darth Vader or as the inspirational author in 'Field of Dreams,' screen and stage actor James Earl Jones has spent decades entertaining the masses and now he is set to be honored for his many achievements.

It was announced today that the renowned actor will be given the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award at SAG's annual ceremony this January.

The prestigious honor is given to an actor who demonstrates the "finest ideals of the acting profession."

The "15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards" premieres live on TNT and TBS Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT and 6 p.m. MT.
