Grease is the word! One of America's favorite musicals is back on Broadway in a brand new production, and the cast just got a visit from iconic star Olivia Newton-John. The four-time Grammy Award winner and the Grease troupe have teamed up to spread the word about breast cancer awareness.
After Tuesday night's show, Newton-John joined the cast on stage and presented each female audience member with a Liv Aid breast self-exam kit. Cast mates Ashley Spencer (Sandy), Derek Keeling (Danny) and "American Idol" heartthrob Ace Young (Kenickie) helped with the momentous evening.
A breast cancer survivor herself, Newton-John, along with Curves, the world's largest fitness franchise for women, have launched a campaign to give out one million Liv Aid kits to women around the world during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Liv Aid kit is a patented and FDA-approved medical device that makes breast self-examinations easier and more comfortable. Newton-John and her partners hope that women will check themselves for the disease that, in just 2007 alone, claimed over 40,000 lives, according the American Cancer Association.
