Hollywood mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer, whose new show "Eleventh Hour" premieres Thursday night (Oct. 9) on CBS, was honored by the Los Angeles Police Foundation at their 9th annual True Blue event on the New York Streets backlot of Paramount Studios -- and ET was there!
"It's a fantastic organization; these young men and women take care of our city and protect us," Jerry tells ET. In addition to producing blockbusters like the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movies as well as cutting his teeth on franchises like 'Beverly Hills Cop,' Jerry is the man behind such police shows as "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and its successful spinoffs.
"We try to have verisimilitude in everything we do," says Jerry. "It's really hard, but we try."
The True Blue event honors the men and women of the LAPD and recognizes police officers who have gone above and beyond traditional policing by demonstrating outstanding community service both on- and off-duty. Guests also had the opportunity to see and test new police technologies as well as participate in demonstrations offered by specialized police units including the Mounted Platoon, the K9 Bomb Squad and the Edged Weapons Unit.
LAPD Chief William J. Bratton attended the event, along with such stars as Jon Voight and Isaiah Washington.
"They do a great job and we need them, so I'm here to support that effort," says Isaiah.
"Any place that Jerry Bruckheimer's being honored I should be, because I've been the beneficiary of Jerrys great and enormous talent as a producer -- I've been in a lot of his pictures; five of them now, I think," says Jon. "He's been a real supporter of the guys and the truth behind things and all the authenticity behind [shows like 'CSI'] help the police too."
Jon adds that although he hasn't seen them yet, he's looking forward to meeting his daughter Angelina Jolie's newborn twins.
