ET has obtained a statement from George Clooney about the historic news of Barack Obama's election victory.

"I congratulate President-elect Obama on his historic victory, and now it's time to begin unifying the country so we can take on the extraordinary challenges that this generation faces," Clooney said.

Clooney had previously expressed his support for Obama during the president-elect's campaign.
