Chandra Wilson sits down on the ET set with Mark Steines to talk about the homeless and life on "Grey's Anatomy."
Wilson learned a lot about the plight of the homeless in her upcoming Hallmark Channel movie, "Accidental Friendship," which is based on the real-life story of Yvonne Caldwell, a homeless woman who had lost everything except her two beloved dogs.
"It's really easy to point the finger and say that's them and I'm me and I could never be them. We even address that in the film," Chandra tells Mark. She goes on to point out that "in today's economy, [many of us] may be two paychecks away from being on the street."
A chance encounter leads to a friendship between Yvonne and LAPD officer Tami Baumann and gives her hope for a better life.
"It's possible to make mistakes and get back on your feet. It's not going to be easy; its not a Cinderella story. You hope for the happy ending but you have to keep working at it," the two-time Emmy nominee continues.
The opportunity to do this film came in part from Chandra's day job as Dr. Bailey on "Grey's Anatomy," a role which took her from relative obscurity to fame and opened up the doors to some very juicy roles and a SAG Award.
But for all the award ceremonies she has been attending since "Grey's" became a hit, Chandra says that she -- and Dr. Bailey -- prefer comfort.
"I don't like it when she has to put on clothes and has to go somewhere. I just like being in the blues, elastic waistband and all. You know that works for me," Chandra tells Mark.
As for "Grey's" spoilers, Chandra isn't talking, but she does predict a wedding sometime in Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) future.
"I think that's what they are working towards -- finally doing the thing."
"Accidental Friendship" premieres Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9 p.m on the Hallmark Channel.
