Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley were just a few of the big winners at the 42nd Annual Country Music Awards Wednesday night, and the stars sure shined for country music's biggest night!
In addition to performing and winning awards, Underwood and Paisley co-hosted the live ABC show, which was filled wall-to-wall with incredible live performances by such artists as Keith Urban, Kellie Pickler, Reba McEntire, Kid Rock and The Eagles. Taylor Swift also sang "Love Story" in a fairy tale performance with a surprise appearance by Justin Gaston, the rumored boyfriend of Miley Cyrus.
Miley and dad Billy Ray Cyrus also joined the roster of stars presenting at the show, along with 'Australia' co-stars Nicole Kidman (Urban's significant other) and Hugh Jackman, Nashville native Reese Witherspoon (who earned her Oscar as June Carter Cash in 'Walk the Line') and final surprise guest presenter Shania Twain, who received a standing ovation upon her long-awaited return to the public eye.
Key awards handed out included Entertainer of the Year to Chesney; Underwood won Female Vocalist of the Year; Paisley won Male Vocalist of the Year; Rascal Flatts won Vocal Group of the Year; Sugarland landed Vocal Duo of the Year; George Strait's Troubadour won Album of the Year; and Jennifer Nettles won Song of the Year for her tune "Stay."
