Talk-show host David Letterman called CBS News' Katie Couric on his "Late Show" Thursday night to address the headline-grabbing incident when John McCain skipped Letterman's show to do an interview with Couric.

Letterman playfully probed Couric about how he lost McCain as a guest, saying, "I think you had something to do with it." Couric assured Letterman that she didn't lure the former presidential hopeful away from Letterman or even know he was booked on the "Late Show."

"I would have said, 'By all means, go do Dave's show,'" she insisted. "…I had no idea until you, apparently, had a little cow on the air."

Letterman jokingly said he believed McCain pulled out of his show's interview to avoid questions about his former running mate Sarah Palin, and Couric jokingly responded, "…Dave, get over it."
