The retired sports star was arrested last week.
Retired tennis champ Jimmy Connors has been charged with a misdemeanor for an alleged altercation that led to his arrest last Friday, says the Associated Press.
The former No. 1 tennis player in the world was charged with allegedly refusing to leave the site of a UC Santa Barbara basketball game, and allegedly "disrupting campus activities" in the process, says the AP.
Connors' business manager tells the AP a man tried to goad the tennis great and his son into a fight before the college hoops game, and police requested that Connors leave. Connors was arrested, his manager claims, after telling authorities he wanted to let his son see the end of the game.
The sports star is "extremely disappointed and embarrassed" about the episode, says his manager.
