Heather Locklear appeared on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Wednesday night, marking her first TV appearance since being arrested on DUI charges last September.
Locklear told Leno of her current state, "I've been better, but I'm good today." She went on to say, "Here I am, safe and sound," and, turning to the audience, she added, "And you're safe and sound too!"
She called the last year "rough" and when Leno asks her what she would have done differently in 2008, she responded with good humor, "I would have stayed in my house!" But she went on more seriously: "You know what, I wouldn't have done anything differently because, here I am today, happy and healthy -- and lessons are to learn." She said she had learned some "hard lessons."
She even opened up about her relationship with her ex-husband, Richie Sambora, saying, "We're better friends now than we were when we were married." She noted that she spent Thanksgiving with Richie, their daughter Ava, and Heather's current boyfriend Jack Wagner.
