Ryan Seacrest adds executive producer of a dating show to his already busy schedule -- and reveals what's up with his own dating life!
Ryan admits that his closeness to his own mother helped him come up with the concept for "Momma's Boys" -- a new dating series that poses the question: "Who is really the most important woman in every man's life?"
So what kind of woman would Ryan's mother want him to date?
"One that is under her spell -- one that is under her control," the "American Idol" host says. "I tend to like girls that are more provocative than my mother would approve of. She would definitely want the one that continues to go to church every Sunday. I might want the one that skips every Sunday."
On "Momma's Boys," 32 single women vie for the attention of three eligible bachelors and their mothers, who live with them throughout the show, and uncover the conflicts between a mother's wishes and a son's desires.
So now that Simon Cowell is newly single, does Ryan feel he is a candidate?
"Actually, I am a little bit worried for him," Ryan jokes. "It is a tough time for him right now. I have been a shoulder for him to cry on. Going into the holidays, which is a tough time to be alone, I don't know how he will make it. I don't think he would be ready for this quite yet."
One thing that Simon is ready for, according to Ryan, is the fourth "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi.
"I think it has been fantastic to see Simon for the first time listen to someone else and really stand back and say to us that he doesn't know it all and he was happy to learn from what Kara brought to the table."
"Momma's Boys" debuts Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 10 p.m.
