Bruno Mars to Open 2016 American Music Awards

The 31-year-old singer will kick off the big show in Los Angeles next month.

Bruno Mars is heading back to the American Music Awards stage for the first time in five years.

The "24K Magic" singer will open the 2016 American Music Awards next month, Dick Clark Productions and ABC announced on Wednesday.

Mars previously performed at the AMAs in 2011 when he took home an award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist. The 31-year-old recording artists has earned a total of seven nominations throughout his career.

Meanwhile, Drake leads the 2016 AMAs nominations with 13 nods, followed by Rihanna and Adele with seven nominations each. Justin Bieber is close behind with five nominations, while Beyonce and The Chainsmokers are tied at four nominations.

The 2016 American Music Awards will air live from the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
