Former "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" star William Petersen is immortalized.

Petersen, who exited his role as Gil Grissom on the hit CBS series on January 15, was the 2379th star embedded on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"I have never considered anything like this happening," Petersen tells ET. "It has always been one job after another, trying to do good work. Who wouldn't be happy with that? So to get this kind of a deal ... over the years, I have come to appreciate the work that is done here and how hard everybody works. To be on the same street as Jack Benny, Bob Hope and Jerry Lewis, what better thing is there?

Petersen was joined by his former "CSI" castmates Marg Helgenberger, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda and Robert David Hall.

He says of his life post-"CSI": "[It is] quiet. My wife and I actually got to take a vacation two weeks ago. It was wonderful, but I miss everybody. I still am going to be over there as much as I can because they are my friends."

As for the return of Grissom, Petersen doesn't rule it out, but not in the immediate future.

"It might be nice to appear as the character again, so I would do that," he tells ET.

The Illinois native, who has appeared on Broadway, will next be seen treading the boards in Blackbird at the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago this summer.
