Media mogul Martha Stewart is mourning the loss of a beloved dog.
In a post on her official blog, Stewart says she is "deeply saddened" to announce that one of her dogs was killed in an accidental explosion at a Pennsylvania kennel on Friday. "Here is a tribute to my little Ghenghis Khan who perished in the blaze," Martha writes, displaying a photo of the dog.
The kennel's co-owner Karen Tracy is quoted as saying 16 dogs were killed in the accident and 14 survived, some with severe burns. "My heart goes out to [kennel owner] Karen Tracy and I am hoping for a speedy recovery for those (both pets and humans) injured in this terrible event," Stewart writes.
Tracy referred to a propane truck delivery driver who was badly burned in the accident as a hero for tossing one dog over the fence to safety before leaving the scene.
