Lionel Richie teams up with Akon for "Just Go" on his new album of the same name, in stores May 19, and ET's Kevin Frazier is exclusively on the set of the music video!

"The whole idea of this song is get away," says Lionel. "This guy has found this girl, he knows this girl very well, and he's saying let me take you away from here, let me get you away from all this stress, and he's fantasizing about this. We're just the narrators."

The young man starring in the video is none other than Evan Ross, the son of Diana Ross, who scored big with Lionel in 1981 with their romantic duet, "Endless Love."

"I've known him since he was a baby -- watching his diapers being changed!" laughs Lionel. "It's fabulous to have the family still on board."

Lionel also considers R&B star Akon family, and was pleased to have him write and sing "Just Go" with him.

"My job was to bring Lionel Richie to the table, and his job was to frame me in 2009," explains the Grammy winner. "I said, 'This is 2009, tell me what Lionel Richie sounds like' -- and he wrote the song."

"I model my whole songwriting career after this guy," beams Akon. "To be working with him in the flesh -- you can't describe that kind of thing! He's never changed. That's what made him so big, the fact that he always found ways to stay with the times, doing exactly what he does, so it's just a matter of updating the sound [on this tune]."

As for Lionel's timeless face, Akon raves, "He's been looking like this since I was five! He doesn't age!"

And thinking back to his Commodores days in the late '60s and early '70s, Lionel says, "To me it was a blink. It was just three or four years ago, wasn't it?"
