Update: Matt Lauer Scheduled for Surgery
Although Meredith Vieira cheekily joked about his encounter with a deer over the weekend, Matt Lauer's biking injury is a little more serious than his "Today" co-host let on.
According to the AP, Matt is scheduled for surgery following the accident because he separated his shoulder. The news wire says the 51-year-old flipped over his bike's handlebars when a deer jumped in front of him.
The show's publicist says Matt is "doing well" and that they hope he will return to his duties by the end of the week.
