Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx were in fine form Monday night at the star-studded premiere for 'The Soloist,' their new drama based on true events, and ET was there to catch all the red-carpet action!

Robert Downey Jr. came straight from the set of 'Iron Man 2' and the star tells ET about his experience working on 'The Soloist.'

"I literally came straight from work," Robert says. "It was such a great experience making this movie, people are really responding to it well. I really put my heart into this, so I'm glad people are liking it."

In 'The Soloist,' in theaters April 24, Robert stars as Steve Lopez, an L.A. Times journalist who meets Nathaniel Anthony Ayers (Jamie), a homeless man who has a clear musical talent, despite working with only two strings on his violin.

Lopez decides to write about Ayers, and soon discovers that he was once a Juilliard classical music prodigy whose promising career was sidelined by schizophrenia. Initially reluctant to take responsibility for Ayers, Lopez chooses to get involved with the troubled genius, leading to a life-changing friendship.
