Actress Mia Farrow will reportedly begin a "fast of only water" to show her disdain for the events taking place in Sudan's troubled Darfur region.

Farrow tells the Associated Press her hunger strike is "a personal expression of outrage at a world that is somehow able to stand by and watch innocent men, women and children needlessly die of starvation, thirst and disease."

The 64-year-old actress decided to protest after the Sudanese government barred international aid agencies from Darfur last month. She is now asking for world leaders to "help build a credible peace process" to end the violence in this country, AP reports.

Her fast will take place during Genocide Prevention month, a movement to stop genocide throughout the world.
