Nicole Richie, Amy Smart, Rosario Dawson and other stars are making an effort to keep schools green and environmentally conscious.

The Environmental Media Association is partnering with the L.A. Unified School District to bring organic gardens and greenery to urban schools, an effort sponsored by personal care brand Yes To Inc.

The partnership will fund schools, and provide celebrity mentoring through EMA's Young Hollywood Board.

Nicole Richie, Amy Smart, Rosario Dawson, Lance Bass, and other young stars are members of the board that will adopt schools and help raise awareness and stimulate environmental education.

"We celebrate the dedication faculty members and students of LAUSD have to the environment," EMA president Debbie Levin said in a statement. "It is vital that we continue to foster an ongoing message of education and social and environmental responsibility."

The program is set to launch this summer.
